The University of Maine System confirmed Wednesday that Eliot Cutler, the two-time former gubernatorial candidate, will lead the creation of a new graduate law and business school.
The Bangor Daily News reported that Cutler will oversee the merging of the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine’s graduate business programs with the University of Maine School of Law to create the Alfond Professional and Graduate Center in Portland.
Cutler will be paid $195,000 annually and his initial term runs through 2016.
Cutler’s hiring comes after Parthenon Group, an outside consultant, was hired to explore the possibility of merging existing programs into a new graduate law and business school.
