Maine’s unemployment rate saw a slight uptick from November to December, according to preliminary December figures.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate is pegged at 7.3% for December, up from 7.2% in November and up from 7.0% compared to December 2011, according to data from the U.S. Department of Labor.
That figure for Maine remains below the national average of 7.8%.
Maine retains a higher employment-to-population ratio — the percentage of the total population over 16 that is employed — than the the national rate of 58.6%. Maine counts 60.5% of that total population that is employed.
