A Portland attorney and advocate for energy efficiency has been named executive director of Efficiency Maine Trust, the state agency that oversees the promotion of energy efficiency.
Michael Stoddard was senior attorney with the Maine-based group Environment Northeast, a nonprofit advocacy and research group that specializes in energy and climate change policies. He becomes executive director of Efficiency Maine Trust on March 22, according to the Associated Press. In 2008, he was appointed by the Public Utility Commission to the new Maine Energy Conservation Board.
The trust was created last year to consolidated Maine’s multiple energy-related programs. It provides incentives for energy efficiency measures, alternative energy technologies and oversees the state’s carbon credit exchange program.
