Eastern Maine Healthcare System in Bangor provided $31.4 million in charitable services between October 2007 and December 2007, according to a press release.
The healthcare system, which includes seven hospitals, 10 nursing homes, four ambulance services and other healthcare agencies, recently released its first report calculating the total uncompensated services provided to communities in the nine counties it serves. “If our organization didn’t provide them, they wouldn’t be provided,” EMHS spokeswoman Karen Cashman told Mainebiz yesterday.
