Breaking with other environmental groups, the Maine branch of The Nature Conservancy is voicing its support for Plum Creek’s proposed development in the Moosehead region.
The Brunswick-based group on Tuesday said it supported the Land Use Regulation Commission’s approval of the development, which includes two resorts, up to 821 residential units and a 363,000-acre conservation easement, according to the Associated Press. Three environmental groups — Natural Resources Council of Maine, the Forest Ecology Network and RESTORE: The North Woods — have filed an appeal to overturn LURC’s approval. The Nature Conservancy filed court papers Tuesday as a party in the appeals process, saying LURC’s approval should stand.
