Three Maine companies are being fined by the Environmental Protection Agency for failing to report hazardous chemicals stored at their facilities.
Dixfield Discount Fuel Co. of Peru, Lisbon Fuel Co. of Lisbon Falls, and Murray Oil Co. of Turner will each have to pay a $2,000 fine for not filing chemical inventory reports by the EPA’s deadline, according to a press release.
Annual reports stating the nature, amount, location and hazards of chemicals stored by companies are required under the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, according to the release.
