Freeport-based Maine Course Hospitality Group is expanding its hotel footprint in Maine with HomeAwhile, a 109-suite extended-stay hotel in Scarborough.
The company, led by CEO Sean Riley, manages a diverse portfolio of 28 hotels, including the Courtyard Portland Downtown /Waterfront in Portland; Fairfield Inn & Suites in both Brunswick and Augusta; and Hampton Inn & Suites in Thomaston.
Maine Course teamed up on the project with Opechee Construction Corp., a design-build firm based in Belmont, N.H., that has a specialty in hotel construction.

The Scarborough project broke ground in November 2024.
With HomeAwhile, located at 205 Southborough Drive, Maine Course aims to “bridge the gap between traditional hotels and long-term apartment living."
“This flagship opening in Scarborough reflects our deep roots in Maine and our commitment to building innovative spaces that support our local community,” Riley said.
Suites include fully equipped kitchens with full-size refrigerators and other appliances; workspaces and reliable high-speed internet connectivity; and separate living areas furnished with two 65-inch television sets.
On-site wellness amenities include a fitness center and 24/7 laundry facilities.
“We have intentionally designed HomeAwhile to offer an environment where visitors — whether staying for one night or an entire year — can truly feel at home while contributing to the local economic landscape,” Riley said.
