Three Maine economic development groups are receiving more than $212,000 from the U.S. Economic Development Administration, which will benefit nine Maine counties.
The Partnership Planning Investments will be used to develop and implement regional comprehensive economic development strategies, according to a press release from U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud. Recipients are:
- Eastern Maine Development Commission, $72,000. Serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock and Waldo counties
- Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, $70,000. Serving Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties
- Kennebec Valley Council of Governments. $70,000. Serving Kennebec, Somerset and western Waldo counties
CEDS investments help communities to develop an economic development strategy that draws on input from both the public and private sector. Michaud said the awards will help the regions create new jobs and business opportunities.
