First Wind settles in

First Wind of Massachusetts, the developer of two major wind power projects in Maine, has opened its first permanent office in the state.

The office in the basement of the Lincoln courthouse will allow the company to oversee its 38-turbine Stetson Mountain wind farm, its 28-turbine Mars Hill wind farm, and a proposed wind farm project for Rollins Mountain that remains under review, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Rollins Mountain project manager Brad Kites of Lincoln will staff the office, and other First Wind employees will use it when they are in town. First Wind’s Rollins Mountain project is currently being reviewed by the Lincoln Planning Board, the Maine Dept. of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers, the paper said.
