Flooding in Maine last week caused at least $1.4 million in damages to public roads, the Maine Emergency Management Agency said this morning.
Federal, state and local officials yesterday formally began to tally the cost of flooding damages, Lynnette Miller, MEMA’s spokeswoman, told Mainebiz this morning. The tally includes damages to public infrastructure in Somerset, Piscataquis, Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties. Aroostook County has not yet reported its total damage estimate, Miller said.
In Aroostook County, three and a half inches of rain fell in snowbanks along the St. John River, prompting the snow to melt and flood the banks, Miller said.
