A fourth Independent candidate for the U.S. Senate vacated by Olympia Snowe has filed his signatures. Andrew Ian Dodge, a tea-party activist from Harpswell, yesterday filed 4,183 signatures, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Independent candidates needed to submit at least 4,000 valid signatures by June 1 to get their names on the Nov. 6 ballot. Dodge initially planned to run as a Republican against Olympia Snowe, but has since left the party.
Earlier this week, former Gov. Angus King submitted his signatures. Signatures have also been filed by Steve Woods, Yarmouth town council chair and CEO of Falmouth firm TideSmart Global, and Danny Dalton of Bath.
