A new group for franchise owners and suppliers has formed in Maine to help facilitate the expansion of franchise businesses in the state.
Jim Coen, executive director of the Maine Franchise Owners Association, launched the group earlier this month at a Portland office. In a press release, the group estimated that franchises employ 38,000 people in the state, with a payroll topping $1 billion.
With its launch, the group released a list of the most common franchises and franchise locations in the state. The most common franchises are: Dunkin Donuts (140), KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut (125), Subway (107), McDonalds (62), Bimbo Foods (47), Southern Tsunami/Advanced Fresh Concepts Franchise Corp. (37), Burger King (37), Chester’s (34) and H&R Block (34).
The group found the cities and towns with the most franchise units are: Bangor (98), Portland (95), South Portland (67), Augusta (63), Auburn (51), Scarborough (45), Waterville (43), Brunswick (42) and Lewiston (41).
