Franklin County chamber names new leader

The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce has named Penny Meservier as its new executive director. She begins on Jan. 2.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that Meservier, who has worked at the newspaper as an advertising sales associate, was chosen out of 20 applicants. The chamber’s search for a new leader started after former director Erin Arthers resigned this fall for personal reasons.

Meservier said her time volunteering for the chamber gave her time to become familiar with the leadership position. Her responsibilities will include administrative office work, helping new members, planning chamber events and working on the chamber’s Franklin County guide.

Chamber President Glenn Kapiloff, who took the position this month, said he hopes to increase the chamber’s membership from around 180 to 200 in the next year.
