Friday Food Insider: Falmouth’s Old Smith Farm will reopen under new ownership

A Falmouth restaurant and event venue is preparing for a fresh start under new ownership and management.

Old Smith Farm, located at 226 Gray Road in Falmouth, will reopen on May 26.

The transition brings in a team of experienced hospitality professionals with strong ties to Maine’s hospitality industry.

Leading the ownership group are Jill Moses, a restaurateur with experience at 3 Dollar Deweys in Portland and Salt Water Grill in South Portland, and Harborview Properties’ Frank Curran, who brings a background in real estate development and operations.

“Old Smith Farm has always been a special place for the Falmouth community,” said Moses. “Our goal is to honor what people have loved about this property while creating something fresh, welcoming, and vibrant for all guests.”

While the venue will retain its signature farmhouse aesthetic, Moses said the team is updating the exterior and making minor interior changes, keeping the feel and vibe while adding new touches to make it their own.

The property will continue to host live music and serve as a destination for private events, including weddings, family gatherings and corporate gatherings.

Rachel Sagiroglu, founder of Experience Maine, a travel and event planning company, will partner with Moses on event programming.

About the restaurant

In the kitchen, Chef Nate Feld — formerly of Twelve in Portland — will oversee a menu centered on farm-to-table fare, alongside a handcrafted pizza menu that has been a longtime staple of this establishment.

Feld said his time at Twelve taught him how to organize his own recipes and implement French techniques in New England cooking.

“I had a great experience working with Twelve and am excited for this new chapter,” said Feld.

Planned features for the menu include a full bar with craft cocktails, an expanded wine list, and comfort New England flair with a modern twist, including fish and chips, lobster rolls with seaweed butter and stuffed clams.

The restaurant will use seasonal ingredients sourced from local vendors.

Additional details about the opening of Old Smith Farm, including menu previews and event booking information, are expected to come out in the coming weeks.
