General Dynamics Ordnance in Saco lands $255M deal

Saco-based General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, formerly Saco Defense, has won a $255 million contract with the U.S. Army for special gun barrel kits.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced the contract award Friday for the company’s M2A1 Quick Change Barrel kits. The kits are for the Army’s 0.50-caliber machine guns.

All of the production to fulfill the five-year contract will be done in Saco, with $60 million in work estimated in the first year.
