For the fourth year in a row, the Skowhegan-based Gifford’s Ice Cream has taken the top award at the World Dairy Expo for its vanilla bean variety.
The Morning Sentinel reported that it is the second year the company’s vanilla bean flavor has taken the grand champion award at the international dairy expo.
The company, which was founded in 1971, employs 35 full-time workers and around 100 during the summer, when its five ice cream stands are open. The company produces around 1.7 million gallons of ice cream annually.
