A Bar Harbor group has collected more than 4,000 signatures in asking Acadia National Park to ban the sale of bottled water.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the group, Think Outside the Bottle, said it wants Acadia’s concession sites to stop selling bottled water because of the negative environmental impact and because the bottling process consumes more energy than using tap water.
More than 75 National Park Service Park properties, including Grand Canyon and Zion national parks, have banned the sale of bottled water, the group said.
