A hard cider startup’s plan to transform an old Gardiner church into a brewery moved forward this week after receiving approval from city councilors.
The Kennebec Journal reported that the Gardiner City Council approved Lost Orchard Brewing Co.’s proposal to use the former Gardiner Congregational Church on Church Street, leaving the final approval to the city’s Planning Board.
The Planning Board had previously endorsed the hard cider startup’s proposal in July, but the process restarted after a new zoning rule was recently passed for the area. City Manager Scott Morelli indicated the board will likely approve the proposal again.
