Heath drops bid for governor

Michael Heath has dropped out of the gubernatorial race only two days after announcing his bid to run.

Heath, the former executive director of the Christian Civic League of Maine, yesterday released a statement saying he would no longer run for governor, saying he “quickly discovered that even the task of circulating petitions is beyond my capacity at this point in my life,” according to news channel WCSH 6. Heath registered with the state ethics commission as a candidate for governor, and would have had to collect 4,000 signatures by June 1 to qualify for the November ballot. Heath recently launched the American Family Association of New England, an affiliate of the Mississippi-based American Family Association.
