Lewiston-based Hebert Construction has just completed projects for two credit unions — one in the firm’s hometown and one in Scarborough.
Dirigo Federal Credit Union expanded into Cumberland County with a new branch at 424 Payne Road in Scarborough.
The location is the first expansion for the 70-year-old institution in decades. Lewiston-based Dirigo FCU also has branches in Auburn, Mechanic Falls and South Paris.
The Scarborough branch is a renovation and an addition to a building formerly occupied by New England Hi-Fi. The credit union occupies 4,000 square feet and will share the additional 4,300 square feet with two retail tenants.
The Element Group, out of Portsmouth, N.H., and Scarborough’s Gawron Turgeon Dillon Architects handled design.
The cost of the project was $4.2 million, according to Simon Hebert, who managed the project.
cPort in Lewiston
Portland-based cPort Credit Union celebrated the grand opening of its newest branch at 321 Main St. in Lewiston with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. At the event, cPort announced a $5,000 donation to the Downtown Lewiston Association.

The new location is the first in Lewiston for cPort, which also has branches in Portland, Augusta and Scarborough. It broke ground on the building in January 2025.
Auburn-based Platz Associates handled the new branch’s design.
Dirigo Federal Credit Union is ranked No. 9 among the largest Maine-based credit unions in the 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on assets of $467.8 million as of Sept. 30, 2025. At that time, the credit union had 28,247 members.
It is followed by cPort Credit Union, at No. 10, with assets of $415.1 million as of Sept. 30, 2025, and 36,516 members.
