December home sales in Maine came in 11.8% higher than the previous year, making a total 17% increase in home sales from last year to 2012.
According to the Maine Real Estate Information System, the median sale price last month for single-family homes jumped 6.25%, to $170,000, over December 2011.
The increase keeps pace with regional price trends, which saw home sales increase 10.9% in December while the median sales price rose 5.3%.
Nationally, price fluctuations kept slightly ahead of Maine, with sales volume jumping 11.5% in December and the median sales price jumping 10.9%, to $180,300.
For 2012 in Maine, Realtors sold 11,521 homes, marking an increase of 17% over 2011.
