Statewide sales of single-family existing homes increased 8.23% in April from last year, bucking a nationwide 7.7% decrease in sales over the same 12-month period.
Data provided by the Maine Association of Realtors shows that while home sales have increased to 1,015 over the 12-month period ending in May, the statewide median sales price dipped by 3.37% to $169,000, according to a press release. The National Association of Realtors, which provides nationwide sales statistics, reported the national median sales price increased by 4.7%.
The Maine Association of Realtors said dropping interest rates and a larger availability of homes contributed to the sales increase in April.
