Hundreds of Portland rental units remain unregistered

Some 700 rental units in Portland have yet to be registered, despite city officials’ push since Jan. 1 of last year for owners to register their properties or face a steep fine.

Those landlords now have until Oct. 21 to register their properties or they will be prosecuted and fined $100 per day until the registration is completed, CBS 13 reported.

Over 4,500 landlords representing about 18,000 units have already registered their properties and paid a fee that the city will use to fund its new housing safety office, which performs code and building inspections.
