University of Maine System board of trustees promoted Raymond Rice to president of the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Rice, who joined the College of Arts and Science faculty at the university 20 years ago, was promoted from interim president and provost.
Robinson Kriger & McCallum, a law firm in Portland, promoted Cara Biddings to partner. Biddings specializes in worker's compensation insurance defense as well as longshore and harbor law.
Cross Insurance, a subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp. in Bangor, promoted Eric Jermyn to president of Cross Employee Benefits. Jermyn was vice president of business development.
U.S. Cellular promoted Brittany Smith to administrative coordinator for the directors of sales for company-owned and agent store locations in New England. Smith, who is based in South Portland, most recently served as the administrative coordinator for the area sales managers at company owned stores in New England.
St.Germain Collins, an environmental, health and safety compliance and engineering firm in Westbrook, promoted Sandra Perry to director of environmental, health and safety services.
TRC, an engineering, environmental consulting and construction management firm in Augusta, promoted Adam Benedict to protection-and-control engineering supervisor, Brandon Davies to system protection engineering supervisor, Douglas Gilman to substation design supervisor and Justin Perry to national testing and quality assurance supervisor. Benedict was senior electrical engineer, Davies was a lead electrical engineer in the system protection engineering department, Gilman was a lead designer and Perry was technical coordinator in the field services group.
Appointments
Tri-County Mental Health Services in Lewiston appointed Walter Riseman to its board of directors. Riseman is a retired CFO of Community Concepts Inc.
Leonard Cashman was elected to serve as a director of both Bar Harbor Bank & Trust and its parent company, Bar Harbor Bankshares. Cashman is an owner and partner of C.O. Properties, a real estate holding company based in New Hampshire.
The Junior League of Portland elected Jillian Rich as president for the 2017-18 term, which began on June 1. Rich is assistant vice president and senior marketing coordinator at Bangor Savings Bank.
The Maine Credit Union League elected Joe Gervais as a director-at-large to its board as well as the board of its subsidiary, Synergent. Gervais is president and CEO of Midcoast Federal Credit Union.
The Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development in Portland appointed Todd Keiller and Brian Whitney to its board of directors. Keiller is director, intellectual property and innovation at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Whitney is president of the Maine Technology Institute.
United Way of York County added Sara Havard of Wasco Products and Paige Streeter of Libby O'Brien Kingsley & Champion LLC to its board of directors. In addition, Jon Hussey, Hussey Seating and Andy Orazio, Sanford-Springvale YMCA, were re-elected to the board for a second term.
Achievements
Dave Leclerc received the 2017 Alex Ferguson award for Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer from the Maine Credit Union League. Leclerc currently serves as chairman of the board for Atlantic Federal Credit Union in Brunswick and has been a credit union volunteer since 1988.
Mercy Hospital in Portland honored Gerard Kiladjian with its “2017 Forsley Award,” named for Fred Forsley, founder of Shipyard Brewing Co. Kiladjian is the general manager of Hart Hotels, a group comprised of The Inn at Diamond Cove, Diamond's Edge Restaurant and Marina, the Portland Harbor Hotel and Eve's at the Garden.
Seifried & Brew LLC, a community bank consulting and risk management firm based in Bethlehem, Pa., ranked First National Bank in Damariscotta in its ranking of the top 15% of banks.
The Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project in Portland recently presented its volunteers awards. Baker Newman Noyes, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, was ranked 91st overall in Accounting Today's list of the top 100 firms in the country based on revenue growth of almost 12% in 2016. The firm was also listed fourth in the New England region.
Coldwell Banker Sandy River Realty in Farmington announced the recipients of Coldwell Banker National's 2016 awards for top producing agents. Thomas Downs, chief meteorologist in the Bureau of Air Quality at Maine Department of Environmental Protection, received the “EPA Environmental Merit Award” in recognition of his contributions and efforts to address the implementation of significant local, regional and national ambient air quality programs.
Island Institute in Rockland presented its “Island Energy Innovation Award” to the Monhegan Plantation Power District for recent upgrades made to the island's power station and the Swan's Island Electric Cooperative received its “Island Institute Community Champion Award” for its work in securing a pathway for affordable electric power for the people of Swan's Island and Frenchboro.

The Institute of Museum and Library Sciences awarded the Waterville Public Library with the 2017 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.
