KeyBank in Portland recently hired Melissa Knutson as vice president and SBA relationship manager, business banking, for the Maine and Vermont markets. Knutson was previously business banking relationship manager for JPMorgan Chase and Co., in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Acadia Hospital in Bangor recently named Wayne Steller vice president and chief nursing officer. Steller had been serving as interim chief nursing officer since June.
Gorham Savings Bank recently hired Tom Peterson as a loan officer. Mostly recently Peterson was with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
Stantec, an engineering, consulting and design firm in Scarborough, recently hired James Manzer as a civil engineer in its transportation practice.
Willis of Northern New England Inc., an insurance broker in Lewiston, recently hired Erin Berryman as a client services consultant in its human capital practice in Portland. Previously, Berryman was a health coach for APS Healthcare in South Portland.
The Maine Red Claws, a member of the NBA Development League in Portland, recently hired Will McClaran, Sandra Eustis-Brackett, Chris Taylor and Erika Johnson. McClaran was hired as director of public relations and community relations; Eustis-Brackett as office manager; Taylor as an account executive in the ticket sales department; and Johnson as public relations and operations assistant.
Vreeland Marketing & Design in Yarmouth recently hired Mark Peterson as web developer and Dori Shepard as accounting and human resources manager. Peterson was previously a private consultant while Shepard was the managing partner and CFO at NL Partners in Portland.

Robert Lynch, clinic director at Lynch Chiropractic Arts Center in South Portland, was recently appointed by Gov. Paul LePage to the Maine Chiropractic Licensing Board.

The State Workforce Investment Board’s Older Workers Committee recently announced that Erda, a leather goods manufacturer in Cambridge; Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor; and Mathews Bros., a window manufacturing company in Belfast, were selected as Maine’s best employers for workers over the age of 50 for 2013.
Berlin City Auto Group’s Vice President Yegor Malinovskii was recently honored by the U.S. Secretary of Defense as a patriotic employer. Malinovskii was recognized with the Freedom Award for contributing to the national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Forces.
The International SeaKeepers Society recently named the executive committee of the Sargasso Sea Alliance as its 2013 International SeaKeepers of the Year. The committee includes David Shaw, founding chair and managing partner of BlackPoint Group in Portland. The alliance, in collaboration with the government of Bermuda, has been mobilizing efforts to protect the Sargasso Sea, a 2-million-square nautical mile ecosystem in the North Atlantic.
The municipalities of Freeport, Vassalboro, Hope, Jackman and Carrabassett Valley were recently recognized for producing the highest-quality annual reports by the Maine Municipal Association.
Woodard & Curran, an engineering and environmental firm in Portland, was recently rated 72nd on Engineering News Record’s annual list of the top-200 environmental firms in the United States. The Maine Development Foundation’s Maine Downtown Center recently announced the five winning Green and Healthy Maine Streets $15,000 matching grant recipients. Winners included: Augusta Downtown Alliance, town of Belfast, Heart of Biddeford, Main Street Skowhegan and Waterville Main Street. The foundation also recently presented Champion Awards at its 35th annual meeting. Award winners included: Education, training and leadership development, Linda Lord, Maine state librarian; health and wellness, Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s Common Ground Country Fair; innovation and entrepreneurial capacity, Eastport Port Authority; and attraction, retention and engagement, Blackstone Accelerates Growth. The Kenneth M. Curtis Leadership Award was presented to Cary Olson Cartwright, assistant vice president of corporate responsibility at Unum.
