Bath Savings Trust Co., the trust and investment management subsidiary of Bath Savings Institution, recently hired Kenneth Bray as vice president, trust officer. Bray has more than 25 years of trust, investment and tax consulting experience. Central Maine Orthopaedics recently hired Bonney Starbird and Melanie Siegle as perioperative nurses in its Ambulatory Surgical Center and Kim Gallant as team leader, revenue cycle operations. Starbird has over 30 years of nursing experience in the Lewiston-Auburn area while Siegle recently graduated from the Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions. Gallant will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of the revenue cycle operations, including patient accounts, patient services, compliance, coding and mentoring of staff. Maine Medical Center recently hired Michael Baumann as chief of emergency medicine. Baumann, who is the president-elect of the Maine Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians and serves on the finance committee of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, joined Maine Medical Center in 2000 as an attending physician in the Emergency Department and became its medical director in 2002. He was named associate chief of emergency medicine in 2003. Starboard Leadership Consulting, an affiliate of Rudman Winchell law firm in Bangor, recently hired Noreen Norton as an economic development consultant. Norton has more than 20 years of economic development experience in the public and private sectors. Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, headquartered in Saco, recently hired Brian Ballute as assistant treasurer. Ballute, a member of the American Institute of CPAs, was previously a senior associate auditor at KMPG in Boston. Norton Insurance and Financial Services, headquartered in Cumberland Foreside, recently announced three new hires: Emily Getchell as a securities account manager, Anne Waloven as a human resources generalist and Brandon Cohen as employee benefits producer. Eastern Maine Development Corp. recently hired Jerry Hayman as CFO, Crystal Ellis as staff accountant and Kole McBreairty as junior accountant. Hayman spent 13 years with Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems Healthcare Charities as the director of philanthropy services. Ellis arrives with experience from BerryDunn’s tax accounting division and Miller Drug. Prior to his hire, McBreairty was with Hawkes & Quirk CPA in Ellsworth. Penobscot Community Health Care recently hired Dr. Rachel Thrift as a pediatric dentist. Thrift, a member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recently completed a pediatric dental residency with Lutheran Medical Center. Thompson-Hamel LLC, a financial services firm in Presque Isle, recently hired Bryan Thompson as an associate. Winxnet, a Portland-based IT service provider, recently hired John Schnauck as the southern New England regional vice president and general manager. Piner, a registered nurse for five years, will be responsible for geriatric medical care in the nursing home setting. Avesta Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing developer in Portland, recently hired Mindy Woerter as communications manager. Woerter, previously an online editor at Mainebiz, will oversee the organization’s media relations, online presence and branding initiatives.

Clark Insurance, an employee-owned insurance agency headquartered in Portland, recently announced that Gail Lind has been promoted to senior vice president. Lind, a chartered property casualty underwriter and accredited adviser in insurance, currently serves as agency manager. Hunter Panels LLC, a manufacturer of polyisocyanurate roof insulation headquartered in Portland, recently announced that Jim Whitton was promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. Whitton, a member of the Roof Consultants Institute and a director for the Polyisocyanurate Insulation Manufacturers Association, was previously a manager for NRG Barriers. Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, headquartered in Saco, recently announced the promotion of Wanda Wilson to customer service representative. Wilson was previously a teller at the bank’s Old Orchard Beach branch. BerryDunn, a CPA and management consulting firm in Portland, recently announced that Kristan Drzewiecki was promoted to manager and Chad Snow to senior manager in the firm’s government consulting group. Drzewiecki focuses her work on health care reform, health insurance exchanges, Medicaid and health information technology. Pierce Atwood, a law firm based in Portland, recently announced that partner James Erwin was appointed to the board of trustees of the University of Maine System. Erwin, who was nominated by Gov. Paul LePage and confirmed by the Maine State Senate, joins 15 other board members who have full legal responsibility and authority for the university system. The Heart of Biddeford recently announced that Holly Culloton has been appointed the board president. Culloton previously served as a volunteer and chairwoman of the design committee. Christopher Sullivan recently joined the faculty at Saint Joseph’s College with a joint appointment in fine art and communications. Sullivan was previously director of exhibits and operations at the Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine in Portland. North Yarmouth Academy Board of Trustees recently elected Steve Bachelder as president. Bachelder is a partner in the Portland law firm of Bachelder & Dowling. Village Consignment of Yarmouth recently held a grand re-opening. The remodeled store, under the new ownership of Shelly Cunningham, carries consigned, quality brand name women’s clothing, shoes and accessories. A charitable campaign sponsored by Hannaford Supermarkets, headquartered in Scarborough, recently contributed more than $250,000 in product and cash donations to food banks and food pantries in Maine, the company recently announced. Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems recently announced that the TD Charitable Foundation, funded by TD Bank, awarded the Youth Healthy Lifestyle Program with a $50,000 grant. The program was created in 2008 as a childhood obesity prevention project. Fluid Imaging Technologies, a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Yarmouth, recently sold and installed four new FlowCAM particle imaging analysis systems in the Republic of South Africa. One system was installed at The University of Venda in Thohoyando, South Africa, and others were sold to governmental agencies responsible for environmental monitoring of coastal waters and numerous reservoirs that serve as drinking water and recreational facilities. Cary Medical Center in Caribou recently announced that the Jefferson Cary Foundation has received more than $152,000 in donations for the new Women’s Imaging Center scheduled to be completed this fall. The project also recently received a $30,000 donation from KeyBank. The College of the Atlantic recently announced the creation of The Lisa Stewart Chair in Literature and Women’s Studies. The chair, which endows a current faculty position, is being funded by a $1.25 million gift from the Stewart family, longtime Northeast Harbor residents. This chair is part of a $32 million fund-raising effort to add new disciplines, create more scholarship funding and build information technology capacity. United Realty, an independent real estate agency based in Belfast, announced it set a record for sales in fiscal year 2011-2012 of $7.38 million. The First N.A., a subsidiary of The First Bancorp Inc. headquartered in Damariscotta, announced that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency recently approved The First’s purchase of a branch at 63 Union St. in Rockland from Camden National Bank and currently operated by Bank of America. The First also received approval from the OCC to open a de novo branch at 145 Exchange St. in Bangor in a building it is purchasing from Camden National. Central Maine Power Co., a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, recently marked a milestone in its Maine Power Reliability Program as construction crews set the 2,000th transmission structure in Lewiston. The company will erect more than 5,000 structures by the time the project is completed in 2015. The 2,000th structure was set by crews from Irby Construction working for CMP at a site near Old Webster Road. The 120-foot weathering-steel structure supports a 345,000 volt transmission line. Verrill Dana, a law firm with offices based in Portland, was recently recognized for being the first firm to reach and exceed its 2012 Campaign for Justice fundraising goal at the Maine Bar Association’s summer bar meeting. The firm has raised more than $30,000 for Campaign for Justice, exceeding its fundraising total from last year by more than 20%. Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems recently announced it will work with Geisinger Health Plan to administer health benefits for employees and their dependents beginning in 2013. Geisinger Health Plan is the insurance component of Geisinger Health System, a Pennsylvania-based integrated health services organization. The company will establish an office in the Bangor area and have staff on-site to support the program.

MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care recently announced that Dr. Ambreen Ijaz, a medical oncologist, has been named as one of two national chairs of the bladder disease committee for Via Pathways. The committees, such as the one co-chaired by Ijaz, are disease-specific and include physician experts who use Via Pathways.
