James W. Sewall Co., a natural resources, energy and infrastructure consulting firm in Old Town, hired Michael Edgecomb as business development manager in the firm’s utilities group. Edgecomb was government relations director for Maine and New Hampshire for Time Warner Cable.

Dentry, who is currently the CEO of Tawam Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, previously served as vice president of global services and managing director for Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, executive director of the Ethiopia Ministry of Health initiative and executive vice president for Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore.

Bangor Savings Bank hired Beth Boudreau as mortgage development officer. Boudreau has more than 25 years of experience in mortgage origination and consumer lending.
Creative Portland hired Dinah Minot as executive director. Minot, a veteran Hollywood producer, was previously a senior advisor for Bobby Shriver’s campaign for Los Angeles County Supervisor.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust hired Hilary Strout as assistant vice president and enterprise fraud manager. Strout has 10 years of experience in cyber security fraud-detection and mitigation.
Woodard & Curran, an integrated engineering, science, and operations company in Portland, hired Phyllis Brunner as president of consulting. Brunner is returning to the firm after 16 years as west regional manager and a senior consultant at Brown and Caldwell.
Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor hired Mahmuda Ahmed as a pediatric endocrinologist, Allison Behrle Yardley as a pediatric gastroenterologist, Jeremy Yardley as a pediatric inpatient physician, Edward Jernigan and Brooke Surran as pediatric neurologists and Nathalie Kremer as a pediatric surgeon.
OA Centers for Orthopaedics in Portland hired Kathryn Hanna and Michael O’Malley as orthopaedic surgeons. Hanna is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon treating upper extremity injuries and conditions with a specialization of the elbow and hand while O’Malley is an orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in orthopaedic sports medicine focusing on joint preservation and replacement as well as arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip and knee.
First National Bank hired Michelle Curtis as assistant vice president, business relationship officer in Camden. Curtis previously worked for Bank of America as a specialty account review analyst and senior credit analyst.
SIS Bank in Sanford hired Cassandra Mosher as assistant vice president and market manager in Springvale and South Sanford.
The boards of the Maine Restaurant Association and Maine Innkeepers Association hired Steve Hewins as president and CEO. Promotions
Varney Agency, an insurance agency in Bangor, promoted Ron Guerin to COO of all of the firm’s Maine retail locations. Guerin will continue to serve as president of Varney Canada and COO of Varney Tampa and resume leadership of all international functions, acquisitions and expansion of the agency into the Florida and Québec markets.
Bar Harbor Savings and Loan promoted Jacquie Colburn to compliance officer. Colburn was previously compliance administrator.
cPort Credit Union in Portland promoted Laura Miller to vice president of marketing, Beth Osborne to senior branch manager in Augusta and Kellie Higgins to operations specialist.

Appointments
Amy Pichette, director of afterschool programs at LearningWorks in Portland, was selected by the National Afterschool Alliance to be one of 15 leaders across the country to become a National Afterschool Ambassador for 2016-17.
The Southern Maine Community College Foundation named Jane Eberle, Michael Vaillancourt, Marty Madden, Josh Reny and Norma Willis to its board of directors. Eberle is director of business partnerships for the South Portland School Department, Vaillancourt is an attorney and partner with Ainsworth, Thelin & Raftice in South Portland, Madden is a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch in Portland, Reny is assistant city manager and economic development director for the city of South Portland and Willis is the college’s faculty representative and chair of the school’s cardiovascular technology program.
Dennis Shores was elected to the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership board of directors. Shores is owner and CFO of Xuron Corp., a manufacturer of ergonomic, electronics-grade hand tools in Saco.
United Way of Greater Portland added Tony Cipollone, president and CEO, The John T. Gorman Foundation; Glenn Cummings, president, University of Southern Maine; Rich Henry, vice president for sales compensation, reporting and analytics, Lincoln Financial Group; Spencer Thibodeau, associate attorney, Verrill Dana; Lisa Toner, director of human resources, Maine Public Broadcasting Network; and Chris Wilson, senior vice president of direct channel, L.L.Bean to its board of trustees.
The Local Media Association elected Shannon Kinney to its board of directors. Kinney is the founder and client success officer for Dream Local Digital in Rockland. The association identifies new and sustainable business models for the media industry and features more than 2,000 members worldwide.
Joseph Klaus and Jean Roy were appointed to the Maine Unemployment Insurance Commission. Klaus, who has more than 40 years of experience in the food service industry, and Roy, who spent 33 years as a high school foreign language teacher, were confirmed as employer representatives.
Larry Robinson, center director at Mane Manufacturing Extension Partnership, was appointed to the board of directors of the New England Trade Adjustment Assistance Center, which offers cost-shared assistance to New England manufacturers impacted by imports.
Achievements
U.S. Sen. Susan Collins received the biennial Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business for her support of America’s small business owners in the 114th Congress. Collins also received the Bruce F. Vento Award from the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty for her efforts to advance legislation to prevent homelessness among young adults, foster children and families.
The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce announced that Bar Harbor was named a “Top-rated U.S. and Canada cruise destination” in Cruise Critic’s Cruisers’ Choice Destination Awards.
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care said it was rated a 4.5 out of 5 for its private HMO/POS and PPO Plans by the National Committee for Quality Assurance in its annual rating of private health plans.
