Giving Opportunities
The need for our services far exceeds our current capacity. An estimated 5,000 seniors reside in Portland who meet our criteria of being “The Forgotten Middle.” We provide services to those in need who are above the low-income level, but below the ability to afford private services. Since 2021, we have given more low-income members scholarships, which are contingent on grants each year.
We were volunteer led until spring 2023, when we hired our first part-time employee to coordinate. Our board focuses on public outreach to meet the demand in our neighborhoods. We’ve received in-kind support for marketing and grant writing.

Volunteer Opportunities
- Volunteer: Volunteer to work with members. Services include round-trip transportation, friendly visits, shopping, light household or gardening and other essential services that enable our members to live independently at home.
- Join the Board: Join our board and offer your skills to assist with needed areas such as project management, web building, fundraising and event planning.
