Italian manufacturer Modula said it plans to spend $6 million on upgrades for a subsidiary’s plant in Lewiston — an investment expected to eventually create 70 new jobs.
The Sun Journal reported that Modula announced its investment plans for System Logistics’ facility in Lewiston earlier this week. The Lewiston company was known as Diamond Phoenix before it was purchased by System Logistics in 2009 and became its North American arm.
The company’s Lewiston plant employs 50 people and manufactures high-tech storage systems, carousels and conveyor belts for hospitals, the military and other sectors.
