Kennebec Behavioral Health

2023 Goals

Counseling services for a variety of mental health issues is one of our most subscriber services. This has been true since the beginning of our agency back in 1960. However, the COVID pandemic thrust us into the tele-video arena for some of our clients. We have learned that for many people, this is the preferred option and have honed our skills, technology and training to create a Tele-Counseling Program. In the next year, KBH will expand its tele-counseling initiative to create a permanent hybrid model approach to care. As part of a SAMHSA grant, KBH has implemented a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model of care. FY 2023 goals include improving intake and enrollment care coordination and client outcome monitoring. Initiatives include hiring new care coordinators and veterans’ liaison while also creating and introducing new trainings. To meet these goals, it is imperative to have a state of the art, functional, adaptable and secure electronic health record. One of the organization’s priorities has been to consistently invest in our IT infrastructure with its medical record platform. In 2022, KBH will be certifying this software and will be able to have an inter-operable system that can share securely health records of our clients with other health providers.

Fundraising/Event Opportunities

Kennebec Behavioral Health will be hosting its annual “A Night Out” event in October/November 2022 in Augusta. This year’s event will feature a 1920’s murder mystery dinner with Mystery 207 and a basket raffle. Tickets will be available to the public to purchase at https://www.kbhmaine.org/anightout. Businesses can sponsor the event through a monetary donation or by donating a basket for the raffle. More information can be found at https://www.kbhmaine.org/anightout/become-a-sponsor/. Funds raised through the event benefit KBH’s College Scholarship Fund. In May, KBH hosts a virtual fundraiser called the Pet Palooza. Pets compete against each other for votes. Anyone can vote by making a $1 donation ($1=1 vote). All proceeds benefit KBH’s Substance Use Disorder Services and local humane societies. Learn more at https://www.kbhmaine.org/pet-palooza/.

Giving Opportunities

Nearly everyone has a friend or family member who is or has struggled with mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Gifts to KBH can be restricted to a specific program or kept unrestricted to go where the need is greatest, such as the Homeless Outreach Program or Substance Use Disorder Prevention Program. Every gift that is made is someone’s next step toward recovery. One-time and recurring gifts can be made online at https://www.kbhmaine.org/give/ or by sending checks to Kennebec Behavioral Health, 67 Eustis Parkway, Waterville, ME 04901. Planned gifts can be made by contacting Tina Chapman, Senior Engagement Officer, at (208) 873-2136 ext. 1022 or tchapman@kbhmaine.org.
