Kennebec Savings’ Freeport branch now a full-service location

Two years after opening an electronic banking and service center in Freeport, Kennebec Savings Bank has turned it into a full-serve location.

The Augusta-based bank said Thursday that in addition to providing residential and commercial loans, the Freeport branch now offers checking and savings accounts, personal lending, online and mobile banking, and more.

“The growth of our Freeport location exceeded our expectations since opening two years ago,” said Kennebec Savings Bank President and CEO Andrew Silsby in a statement.

“As a full-service branch, more of our southern Maine customers can now benefit from the full array of offerings our customers in Kennebec County have come to know and trust for the past 150 years.”

The Freeport branch employs five people and is managed by Travis Rowell.

Kennebec Savings Bank opened its Freeport location in 2017 as a loan office for residential and commercial real estate. To date, the office has provided customers with nearly $100 million in loans.

“The greater Freeport community has been incredibly welcoming,” said Rowell. “As a relationship-focused community bank, we are eager to provide even more services to help customers meet their financial needs.”

The bank said it has contributed close to $100,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout the greater Freeport area.

Earlier this year, the bank donated $25,000 toward Wolfe Neck Center’s capital campaign to help the organization renovate several of its facilities.

“This support is a strong indication of the bank’s commitment to the communities where they are located,” said David Herring, Wolfe Neck Center’s executive director.
