2027 goals

For over 60 years, KVCAP’s primary goal has remained constant – to create sustainable solutions to poverty for individuals, families and communities.

KVCAP’s four overarching strategic goals (2025-28) are to:

Goal 1: Strengthen Organizational Infrastructure to Foster Sustainable Growth and Innovation

Leadership Development

  • Modernize Resource Development and Enhance Financial Sustainability
  • Foster a culture of risk management awareness

Goal 2: Create Safe, Affordable Housing across the Region

  • Real Estate Innovation and Expansion
  • Housing Rehabilitation and Climate Efforts

Goal 3: Create an Organizational Culture based upon a Whole Families Approach

Advance Family Stability

  • Advance professional development of staff focused on whole-family philosophy
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to expand and explore access to affordable, flexible childcare for families working or going to school

Goal 4: Expand Transportation Access across Kennebec and Somerset counties

  • Create a sustainable and nimble transportation system

Giving opportunities

  • KVCAP relies on community support to keep our programs fully funded. Private contributions directly strengthen the resources local families depend on to build lasting financial independence.
  • Donors can make a one-time or recurring gift on our website: kvcap.org. Employer matching gifts, planned gifts and gifts of stock are always welcomed.
  • Become a Community Investor! Sign up and receive a weekly email highlighting a specific need for a local neighbor when no other resource exists. KVCAP Community Investors are lifesavers, financially contributing to address situations that threaten an individual’s or family’s health or stability. Common requests are for car repairs to maintain employment and beds for seniors and people with disabilities.

To learn more about all our giving opportunities, please contact Andrea Pasco at andreap@kvcap.org or (207) 859-1630.

Volunteer opportunities

KVCAP is always seeking new Volunteer Drivers for our Transportation Department. Drivers are reimbursed for their mileage, bringing people to and from medical appointments. Our South End Teen Center in Waterville invites volunteers who are willing to dedicate their time engaging with members, sharing a talent or passion, or providing homework support. Our Social Services Department welcomes volunteers to help sort and package diaper donations and baby clothing. For more information about volunteer opportunities, contact Andrea Pasco at andreap@kvcap.org.

Awards, national rankings or recognition

  • KVCAP holds “Exemplary Status” as a NeighborWorks America Charter Member. NeighborWorks is a network of excellence comprising nearly 250 nonprofit organizations across the U.S., focused on homeownership/financial capability, housing development, lending, community engagement and resident leadership development.
  • Operated by KVCAP, Educare Central Maine delivers NAEYC-accredited, high-quality early care and education as part of a national research model.
