Kittery Visitor Center parking and access road to get $1.9M upgrade

The Maine Department of Transportation is alerting motorists to a temporary nighttime closure of access to the Kittery Visitor Information Center during a $1.9 million upgrade.

Traffic is being shut down on the I-95 off- and on-ramps for the center from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sundays through Fridays, until the project is completed by the end of June.

MDOT is repaving the center’s parking area and access road to improve drainage and accessibility for disabled visitors, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, around the center and in the parking lot.

Coastal Road Repair, of Westbrook, is managing the project.

Message boards and signs will be in place to inform drivers of the nighttime closures.
