Gov. Paul LePage opposes the idea of adding another casino in southern Maine, saying it would have a negative impact on the state.
The Associated Press reported that LePage’s views on adding more casinos in Maine were revealed in a letter from deputy counsel Hank Fenton. In the letter, Fenton said the governor opposes multiple bills that would expand gambling in Maine and that he is not convinced by a recent study supporting more casinos.
Fenton also said the addition of a casino in southern Maine would have a negative impact on the communities that are benefiting from Hollywood Casino in Bangor and Oxford Casino in Oxford.
