Gov. Paul LePage has nominated two Maine District Court judges to join the state’s Superior Court bench and put up five names for appointment to District Court judgeships.
The Portland Press Herald reported LePage nominated District Court judges Daniel Billings and Robert Mullen for Superior Court judgeships. Billings was the governor’s chief legal counsel before being appointed to the District Court in 2012. For the District Court, LePage nominated former Maine Attorney General William Schneider of Durham, Andrew Benson of Athens, Barbara Raimondi of Auburn, Lance Walker of Falmouth and Eric Walker of Belmont.
The nominations follow LePage’s renomination of District Court judges Michael Cantara, Charles Dow, Valerie Stanfill and Rick Lawrence; Superior Court justices Andrew Horton and Nancy Mills; and Supreme Judicial Court Justice Andrew Mead.
