Kenneth Fletcher, the director of the Governor’s Energy Office, will step down from his position as the state’s top energy official on Monday.
Fletcher, 67, said in a press release that he plans to retire with his wife in Winslow.
Hampden resident Patrick Woodcock, a former energy advisor to Sen. Olympia Snowe, will take over the state post.
Woodcock, 31, has a degree in government and economics from Bowdoin College and prior to 2007, when he joined Snowe’s office, he advised the Maine Senate Republicans with voter analysis and management of campaign budgets.
Fletcher held the post as the state’s top energy official for two years, during which time he said Gov. Paul LePage articulated the importance of lowering electricity prices.
