Lincoln Paper and Tissue has signed a deal with Bangor Gas to provide a natural gas pipeline to its mill beginning late next year.
According to a press release from the companies, the move will involve conversion of the mill’s tissue hoods and lime kilns to run on natural gas, a move that the company says will eliminate nearly all oil used in its papermaking process.
Jerry Livengood, general manager of Bangor Gas, said in a prepared statement that the mill will serve as an anchor customer for the expansion of natural gas service to other customers in the Lincoln area.
