An upgrade of its order-processing systems is causing shipping delays for some L.L.Bean customers of up to a week.
The Portland Press Herald reported that the Freeport-based retailer has sent letters of apology to customers affected by shipping delays of up to a week, offering them a 20% discount on a future order.
L.L.Bean spokeswoman Carolyn Beem told the newspaper the delays haven’t affected every customer and have ranged from a few days to a week. But she noted that once the problem with the systems upgrade is worked out, the company will be able to fill customer orders even more quickly and reliably than in the past.
