L.L.Bean purchases Freeport property

Maine-original L.L.Bean has purchased a building in Freeport that was most recently the home of Stirling & Mull restaurant, a European-inspired gastropub that closed after one season.

The building, located at 175 Lower Main St., is a short distance from L.L.Bean’s corporate headquarters and a little less than 1 mile from the outdoor gear and apparel company’s retail and outlet locations.

“We do not plan to do anything specific with it at this time, but since it abuts our property, it was a sound opportunity that just made good sense,” L.L.Bean spokesman Mac McKeever told The Current.
