Lobster prices rise

Lobster prices seem to be on the rebound, as dock prices for the tasty crustaceans nearly doubled in two weeks.

The Maine Lobstermen’s Association told the Associated Press that lobstermen two weeks ago were getting $2.25 to $2.80 a pound for their catch, and fishermen this week are receiving $4 to $5.40 a pound.

The rebound is a combination of greater-than-expected demand at this time of year and a dwindling supply, since so many lobstermen stopped fishing when prices hit record lows this fall.
