The Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport this week made a tentative deal with a subsidiary of the German airline company Lufthansa to build a 50,000-square-foot hangar at the airport.
The Lufthansa subsidiary, a foundation called Lufthansa Berlin-Stiftung, on Tuesday purchased two vintage Lockheed Constellation Starliners from the airport and needs a hangar to restore one of them, according to the Sun Journal in Lewiston.
The $1 million deal would take three to five years and likely employ 20 or more people, Rick Cloutier, the airport’s director, told the paper.
