After more than three decades at the helm of Seaboard Federal Credit Union, Kyle Casburn plans to retire as president and CEO at the end of May 2027, the Bucksport-based credit union announced.
Casburn joined Seaboard in 1995 as an assistant manager and was promoted to CEO after three months. Under his leadership, the credit union grew from $42 million in assets to $248 million today.
He is credited with leading the credit union through digital transformations, two community charter conversions and periods of economic uncertainty, including the 2014 closure of the Verso paper mill in Bucksport, a 5,066-population town in Hancock County.
"Serving as CEO for the past 31 years has been the greatest honor of my professional life," Casburn said. "When I first joined, our goals were simple: to improve operations while providing our members with financial benefits and security. I am incredibly proud of how we stayed true to that mission while navigating a changing financial landscape.”
Tony Manzo, who chairs the credit union’s board, credited Casburn’s “leadership, integrity and unwavering commitment to our employees and members” with positioning the credit union for long-term success.
To help find Casburn's successor, the credit union said its board has enlisted Houston-based Shanley Search Partners to evaluate internal and external candidates for the leadership role.
