Maine Beer Co.’s expansion triples Freeport headquarters

Maine Beer Co. was given the green light by Freeport’s Project Review Board on Wednesday to begin construction of a 20,330-square-foot expansion that will more than triple the footprint of its Route 1 tasting room and brewery.

The Portland Press Herald reported that the expansion, which will boost Maine Beer Co.’s production capacity, will also include new employee break rooms, staff offices, lockers and bathrooms while also expanding its tasting room and retail store. Parking will also be expanded, including added space for food trucks.

Company spokesman Jesse Weyl told the Press Herald that construction will begin this winter and that brewing in the expanded space will start next year.
