Startup Maine Week, an annual gathering in Portland that drew more than 800 attendees last year, is planning four packed days of programming this year, opening and closing with keynote speeches by national experts.
The conference, scheduled at various venues from May 18-21, will also feature sessions with Maine-based entrepreneurs, including JT White of Forerunner, Torey Penrod-Cambra of HighByte and Phil Coupe of ReVision Energy.
Kate Brodock, a nationally recognized voice on venture capital, gender equity in technology and building inclusive startup ecosystems, will deliver the opening keynote on Monday, May 18. Clarence Bethea, managing partner at What VCs Won’t Say, will give the closing keynote on Thursday, May 21, detailing his path from startup founder to investor.
“Startup Maine Week has always been the place where this community comes together,” said Sarah Smith, who recently took the reins as president of Startup Maine, a volunteer-run nonprofit.
“This year, we’re building on that foundation with sharper programming, nationally recognized speakers, and a real focus on what founders actually need,” she added. “Maine is a place where people are building serious companies — and this conference should reflect that. We’re just getting started.”
