Foreclosure activity in February increased nearly 30% in Maine over the same month last year, but dropped off from January.
In February, there were 261 single-family existing homes in Maine that were subject to a foreclosure filing of some sort, whether default notice, auction sale notice or bank repossession, according to California-based RealtyTrac’s most recent U.S. Foreclosure Market Report. That’s a 28.6% increase from February 2008. But February’s foreclosure activity dipped 15.3% from January.
Nationally, there were 290,631 U.S. properties subject to a foreclosure filing in February, an increase of nearly 30% from February 2008 and a 6% increase from January.
