Maine Friends of Animals

2027 goals

1. Continue to grow the organization in depth, resources, influence and capacities with expanded operational capabilities and talented paid and volunteer staff.

2. Successfully pass six legislative bills selected for the next legislature by building a coalition of groups to advance important animal protection initiatives and support all Maine animal welfare legislation.

3. Develop the new Cruelty Inquiry Department (CID) program that assists the reporting, investigating and prosecution of animal cruelty in Maine, working with state and local authorities.

4. Enhance existing revenues; increase revenue opportunities; recruit two new board members with financial gravitas.

5. Institute the annual Robert Fisk, Jr. Animal Protection Scholarship for Maine high school seniors or graduates at colleges / universities as they pursue a course curriculum in animal welfare, animal protection or animal law. Encourage, teach and prepare the next generation of animal protectors.

6. Explore new ways to use our experience as a resourceful, well-managed and battle-tested nonprofit. MFOA has demonstrated the ability to not only survive in a relatively hostile political environment, particularly in the early stages of a social movement, but also develop into a nationally recognized state animal welfare organization.
