Maine gets ‘D’ for legislative website

Maine received a “D” grade for its legislative website in the first ranking by a national nonprofit that promotes government transparency.

The Sunlight Foundation delivered its report card Monday, ranking each state based on six categories.

Maine excelled in the category of timeliness, according to the survey, but was criticized for the site’s ease of use.

In four other categories, the Maine site was deemed average or just below average.

In contrast to other New England states, Maine fell in the middle of the pack. Massachusetts and Rhode Island received “F” grades for website transparency. Vermont received a “B” and New Hampshire and Connecticut received “A” grades.
