Maine buyers had more homes to choose from in December and prices continued to edge up, with the median sales price back at $400,000.
Across the state, 1,178 single-family homes sold last month, a 15.04% increase over December 2023. The median sales price reflected an increase of 14.12% increase from $350,500 a year earlier earlier, according to the Maine Association of Realtors.
Last year, Maine’s median sales price hit an all-time high of $409,450 in September, before dipping to $385,000 in November.
Cumberland and York counties had the highest MSP last month, at $570,000 and $519,500 respectively. Franklin and Piscataquis counties saw the largest jump in prices, though sales prices were well below the MSP.
The National Association of Realtors reported a 10.1% rise in home sales across the country, with the MSP rising to $409,300 in December. Sales in the Northeast inched up just over 10% for a regional MSP of $478,900.
