Maine home sales see small growth

Single-family existing home sales in Maine increased in August by 3.32% over the same month last year, compared to a larger 14% increase in July.

Maine homes sales reached 1,556 units in August, with 1,506 units having sold in the same month last year, according to new data from the Maine Realtors Association. The median sales price for last month was $178,000, a 2.2% decrease over the same period.

On a national level, home sales dipped 4.9% while the median sales price increased 5.2% to $220,6000 during the same 12-month period, according to the National Association of Realtors. Sales in the Northeast decreased 4.3% while the median sales price dipped by .8%.
