Sales of existing homes in Maine between July and September fell by 13.5% from the same third-quarter period last year, according to a new survey from the National Association of Realtors.
The NAR last week said that seasonally adjusted sales in Maine of single-family homes and condos fell from 29,600 during the third quarter of 2006 to 25,600 this year.
However, the median sales price of homes in the Portland-Biddeford metropolitan area, the only area in Maine included in the survey, increased 0.6% to nearly $246,000 during the same period.
